Primary Objective: Happiness is a short digging game about exploring and looting a small world and obtaining true happiness: freedom.

The goal of the game is to sell enough artifacts and gems to one of the two buyers above ground for them to help you. There may or may not be some other ways to obtain freedom. Possibly rather broken.

Unfortunately music didn't fit the schedule.

The game was created in 48 hours for #mizjam1 using Kenney's amazing art kit.

Controls:

  • W/A/S/D to move (there is no jump)
  • ESCAPE to pause the game
  • R to restart (costs coins)
  • SPACE to dig in the direction your facing (left, right, down)
  • LEFT SHIFT to activate magnetism (works on gems/artifacts/coins)
  • F to place a ladder (costs coins)
  • Q to place a torch (costs coins)
  • E to acknowledge a message box

I only got the first two endings, The spikes got to be too frustrating for me to continue. Really cool game though. I ended up using the magnet to pull myself up using the treasure more often than I used the ladders, not sure if that was an intended feature or not.

It was an accident that ended up staying for good. The spikes were a last minute addition, so they're not exactly balanced correctly.. thank you so much for playing!

Hey! Lovely game lots of polish and I love the sound effects when picking up the coins. I managed to get to the 3rd ending.

I wasn't too sure how to bring up the gems or fossils backup to the top to be able to sell them so i just kinda dug my way down collecting coins.

Hey! Sorry for the late reply! Left shift activates a magnetic pull for gems/fossils .. it's kinda janky jam physics though ;D

Thank you for playing!

I got the 3rd ending, actually paid attention to the controls dialog, and then got the 4th ending :)

There are a lot of actions we can do, maybe too many to introduce at once… I get that the interspersed buzzing is better for flavor, but the text that teaches these actions could be better spaced.

Also, the way to advance the menus should be uniform (click for starting the game and E for advancing text later on is confusing).

Still, good little game and I love the idea of multiple endings (I was going to do it if I had finished mine!).

Thank you so much! I agree, the text-box was an afterthought and I pretty much just wanted to see if I can do it in the remaining time so it's less than optimal.. Thanks for playing! :D

Brought me back to when I used to play Motherload on Miniclip. The feels...

Never played that but I've just recently found out that Super Motherload exists and is available for a reasonable price on steam. Thanks for playing!

The fact that you made this in 48 hours is incredible :O
Nice game !!

Thank you!!
